    As part of its "Tools to Transform Conflict" Training Series, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center presents CIVILITY IN THE WORKPLACE: CONFLICT RESOLUTION SKILLS AND MANAGERIAL MEDIATION with Diane Petropulos. Held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in Hilo, the training facilitates a look at frustrating workplace behaviors, their consequences, and how to use collaborative skills to lay the foundation for a civil organization. The "Tools to Transform Conflict" Training Series is sponsored in part by the County of Hawai'i Department of Research and Development.     As part of its "Tools to Transform Conflict" Training Series, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center presents HONEST EXPRESSION: TRANSFORMING JUDGMENTS INTO FEELINGS AND NEEDS TO MAKE REQUESTS. Facilitated by Mala'e Erickson, this workshop takes place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Kea'au Community Center in Kea'au. The 6-hour workshop teaches participants how to manage emotions and judgements in order to honestly express themselves so others will listen. People can avoid misunderstandings, arguments, criticism, and blame by transforming the way they make requests. Learn to make neutral observations, state feelings/needs, and make requests using positive action language. Tuition is $60 (group discounts and partial scholarships available).     BENEFIT PREVIEW PARTY to kick off the Hilo Orchid Society's 65th Annual Orchid Show & Sale. The gala event runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Edith Kanaka'ole Stadium. The Preview Party features fine wine and beer tasting, catered food, live music, and orchid viewing and pre-sales. Proceeds benefit Ku'ikahi Mediation Center and Hilo Orchid Society's scholarship fund. Tickets are $70 ($25 of which is tax deductible) and includes a souvenir wine or beer glass. Tickets are available at Day-Lum Rentals, The Most Irresistible Shop, Hilo Coffee Mill, and Ku'ikahi Mediation Center.     Ku'ikahi Mediation Center announces its next BASIC MEDIATION TRAINING with Diane Petropulos and Catherine Lampton. The 30-hour training offers instruction in the process of mediation and how to apply advanced communication skills--such as active listening, summarizing and rephrasing, and using open-ended questions--in order to help parties resolve their differences. Learn a variety of conflict resolution and prevention techniques in this interactive training--through lecture, group discussion, hands-on exercises, and mediation simulation practice. Whether you want to improve your peacemaking and negotiation skills or want to become a mediator, this training gives you the tools you need to start resolving conflict in a peaceful, lasting ways.     Ku'ikahi Mediation Center - in participation with the Hawai'i County Bar Association - is hosting our 12th ANNUAL RECOGNITION DINNER AND AUCTION in Hilo to help fund our non-profit human services agency. This year's event honors: TO BE ANNOUNCED. No-host cocktails are served at 5:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. The buffet features: TO BE ANNOUNCED. Also served are salads, side dishes, dessert, and coffee and tea. Tickets are $90 per person (of which $45 is tax deductible).
